A glorious morning and beautifully prepared green greeted the players for the first day of Finals Weekend on Saturday 2nd September.
A very competitive Men’s Pairs Final was won by Tom Dalgleish & Sam Howard after a valiant effort to come back by Mac MacLean & Pat Smith.
In the Ladies 100 Up Final Kathy Pease proved just too strong against Jo Brand.
After an excellent lunch prepared by the Ladies, play resumed with the Ladies & Men’s Finals.
In the Ladies Final Chris Andrews overcame Jo Brand in another tight game & in the Men’s Final Peter Baker took 29 ends to beat William Wheeler by 1 shot.
As the song says ”What a difference a day makes”. Sunday dawned overcast & with a slight chill in the air but produced one of the games of Finals Weekend.
The Ladies Pairs saw Rita Smith & Sally Pulling take on the more experienced pair of Edie Vine & Chris Andrews. The match swung each way & after 21 end the score was 21 all!.The experience of Edie saw herself & Chris over the line on the extra end.
In the Men’s 100 Up William Wheeler got the better of Tom Dalgleish by a very small margin and after lunch the spectators enjoyed some good bowling in the Australian Pairs between Steve Carter & Edie Vine against Mac MacLean & Jo Brand with the former pair winning on the extra end.
In the Mixed Pairs Final William Wheeler & Chris Andrews were again in action this time beating Peter Baker & Dorothy Langford in another close Final.
