2024 Club Events

GREEN OPENS - Saturday 13th April @ 2.00pm

The afternoon will consist of a Roll Up to get us all back into the swing of things.  It will be good to see you all as we look forward to the season ahead.

 

CHELSEA PENSIONERS TOUR - Wednesday 17^th April @ 11.30am

After their visit to our club last year, we are delighted to have been invited to play at The Royal Hospital Chelsea.  The day will start with a guided tour of the Christopher Wren designed building, followed by lunch and then a game of bowls.  All in all, the ingredients to make a superb day!

 

CLUB AFTERNOON - Sunday 21^ST April @ 2.00pm

More details of this to follow but it will be a great afternoon with an inter-club match and other fun ideas planned. 

 

PRE-SEASON LUNCH - Friday 26th April @ 12.30pm for 1.00pm

Once again to be held at the excellent venue of the Kings Head, Horsebridge. A fantastic way to get back together after the winter break.

 

OPEN/RECRUITMENT DAY – Saturday 4^th May @ 10.00am

The 1^st of our 2 open days where we invite non-members to come along to the club and give lawn bowls a try for free.  On arrival you will be greeted by our membership secretary and experienced members of the club, plus our very own coach will be on hand for a gentle introduction to this fascinating game.  All equipment will be supplied, just wear flat comfortable shoes.  We even throw in a cup of tea!

 

OPEN/RECRUITMENT DAY – Saturday 25^th May @ 10.00am

Our 2^nd open day for all to come along and try lawn bowls for free & a cup of tea!

 

SPONSORS FUN DAY - Saturday 28th June @ 2.00pm

An exciting fun afternoon to welcome our new sponsor Hailsham House Care Home.  This new event will involve blue & red teams competing for the trophy ending with high tea provided by the chefs from Hailsham House.

 

MIXED TRIPLES INVITATION DAY - Sunday 18th August @ 10.00am

This is the jewel in our crown, where we invite teams from all over Sussex to join us in a fun filled day of great bowling, excellent food, and the chance for one lucky team to lift the Invitation Trophy.

 

AUBREY CROWE FINALS - Saturday 14th September @ 2.00pm

The final game of this inter club competition, followed by a fish & chip supper. Will it have a nail-biting end, or will it be a foregone conclusion? Only time will tell as the season goes on, but it will certainly be an exciting and enjoyable afternoon/evening.

 

FINALS WEEKEND - Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th September @ 10.00am

Two very exciting days of bowling and a great conclusion to the season. Come and show the culmination of all the hard work, practice, and time we have all invested in the season comes to an exciting finale.  Even if you do not reach the final stages, please come along to support, and encourage those who have.

 

CANDLELIT BOWLS & BBQ - Wednesday 18th September @ 5.00pm

As we head towards the end of the season this is always a great evening. A BBQ supper, followed by a fun game of bowls in the dark - which is always down to luck more than judgement!

 

PRESIDENTS CHARITY/FUN DAY - Sunday 21^st September @ 2.00pm

A brilliant, fun afternoon of bowling and lots more whilst raising plenty of money for Dementia the chosen charity of our current President Dorothy Langford.

 

GREEN CLOSES - Sunday 29^th September

A final roll up before we close the club for our winter break.

 

END OF SEASON DINNER – Friday 18^th October

Details of time and venue will be available shortly.

 

MINCE PIE MORNING – Saturday 7^th December @ 10.00am

A time for getting together in Christmas cheer to swap Christmas cards and seasons greeting at the Charles Hunt Centre.
