Hailsham Bowling Club

If you are interested in trying Lawn Bowls for free, then come along on either of our Open Days for a taster session.

DO NOT GO TO THE CLUB IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING ANY CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) SYMPTOMS OR ANY COLD OR FLU-LIKE SYMPTOMS, IN PARTICULAR A COUGH OR A HIGH TEMPERATURE.

Your safety and health is paramount and you play at your own risk.

Please note that the COVID circumstance is an on-going situation and we will review arrangements as necessary on a regular basis.

CASUAL ROLL-UPS

  • Only full and life members who have booked a rink may play casual roll ups
  • Please log in to the club using the NHS Track and Trace app on your smartphone (if you have one) using the QR code displayed at various places around the club.
  • You MUST play on the rink you are assigned at the time of booking.
  • Up to SIX players may play on each rink (subject to social distancing).
  • NO SPECTATORS ARE CURRENTLY ALLOWED.
  • All equipment will be stored in the Visitors’ Changing Room (Lords) and the key to that is in the keysafe on the wall of the Ladies Changing Room.  Code for the Keysafe is the same as the entrance gate.
  • Once delivered, jack should be centred by player’s foot, not hand.  Touchers should not be marked.  If the jack is pushed into the ditch, it cannot be marked so should be replaced (by the player nominated to handle the jack) on the green close to the ditch at the point where it went in.
  • Two mats should be used at each end, and the leads should agree which of the mats each will use.  Two jacks should be used, one for each lead, and they should only use their own jack.
  • Jacks, mats and any other equipment used MUST be sanitised before and after each session. Disinfectant and sanitiser is available in the Visitors Changing Room.  Follow any notices displayed on the green.
  • You MUST sanitise or wash your hands as soon as you arrive at the club (before touching anything within the Club) and after playing immediately before leaving the Club, and clean the washbasin after use. 
  • Hand washing facilities are available without access to the clubhouse or the toilets.
  • The rink markers MUST NOT be moved.

MATCHES AND ORGANISED ROLL-UPS/CLUB AFTERNOONS, ETC

  • Sign-up sheets for matches, organised roll-ups/club afternoons, etc, will be displayed at the club during organised events (roll-ups and matches).
  • Alternatively, you can email the club captain on captain.hailshambc@gmail.com or phone/text him on 07919 033585 to be considered for matches, etc. 
  • For matches, these lists will be closed approximately 10 days prior to the match for teams to be selected.  The teams will be notified by email to all those who have put their names down (or by phone call if member has no email).
  • For organised roll-ups/club afternoons, etc, the lists will be closed about 2 days prior to the event and subject to an overall limit of 24 players all who want to play will play.  Format of play, etc will be advised on the day and will depend on umber of players.

CLUBHOUSE

  • The Clubhouse will be closed.  Members should not enter the clubhouse or the changing rooms (except the Visitors Changing Room where the equipment is stored) for any reason.  The first aid kit will be in the Visitors Changing Room with the equipment.
  • There will be toilet facilities.  They are not being cleaned/sanitised by the club.  If you use them, please ensure you clean them after use and sanitise the toilet and washbasin and any other surfaces you have touched.  The key to the Unisex (Gents) toilet will be in the Visitors’ Changing Room with the other equipment.
  • If possible please bring your own hand sanitisers and use before and after the game.  Some sanitisers and hand wash, etc will be provided and that provided by the Club MUST NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE CLUB.
  • You may use gloves if you wish.
  • If you are the last people to play in a particular session, it will be your responsibility to ensure that all equipment is put away, and that all is secure, and the key for the Visitors’ changing room is replaced in the key safe and the keysafe is closed and locked.  Also that the padlock on the entrance gate is properly closed.

BOOKING A RINK

  • There will be 3 rinks available for each session.
  • There will be three sessions per day.  There will be a 30 minute overlap for the booking times (e.g. 10:00, 10:30 and 11.00, etc) to avoid too many people arriving and leaving at the same time.  Please do not play for more than 2 hours.
    • 10.00 - 12.00
    • 14:00 – 16:00
    • 18:00 – 20:00
  • To make a booking please telephone the club captain on 07919 033585 between 9:00am and 5:00 pm.  (No email or text pleaseThe names of all players will be required prior to the day of play.
  • Initially, you will only be able to book for a maximum of 7 days in advance and no more than two sessions at any one time, to ensure that all members have an opportunity to play if they wish.
  • You should arrive at the Club no more than 10 minutes before your designated start time and leave immediately after your finish time.
  • Please do not congregate or linger for social ‘chit chat’.
