Invitation Day 17/08/2025
On a perfect summer’s day, we once again hosted our annual Invitation Day triples competition. For the 2nd year running we had a full house of 24 teams enter for a competitive day of bowling all hoping to be in with a chance of winning one of the 3 cash prizes.
Teams arriving early were able to pre-order a hot breakfast roll and drink to stand them in good stead for the days bowling ahead. Tea & coffee were served throughout the day along with delicious homemade cakes that had been lovingly prepared by some of our members. If a cold drink was preferred, then our bar staff were on hand all day keeping everyone hydrated. All this topped off by our extremely tasty and popular ploughman’s lunch served by our dedicated & hardworking social team, ensured everyone was nourished & refreshed to play their best bowls.
All entrants were placed into 2 groups of 12 and within the group each team were randomly selected to play 5 rounds of 5 ends. Scorecards were handed out by our 2 dedicated scorers who kept on top of the timekeeping as well as all the points accumulated for ends and games won/drawn to determine the winners & runners up of each group who would face off against each other to determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
So, after a long day of some great bowls the 3 cash prizes were awarded to:-
1st Place – The 3 L’s (Worthing Bowls Club)
2nd Place – Panama Pirates (Motcombe Bowls Club)
3rd Place – On Parade (Parade Bowls Club)
Our commiserations go out to Bowls R Us (Seaford Bowls Club) as unfortunately, there is no prize for 4th place except the fun of taking place in a great day of bowls.
For the spectators, who wanted a break from watching bowls, we had plenty to entertain them as they could have a go at target bowls, guess the £50 note, buy from a fabulous selection of books, CD’s & DVD’s or enter our raffle for a chance to win one of the many wonderful prizes on offer.
As ever thanks go out to all members who contributed in whichever way they could to make this day special and run smoothly. Their help is greatly appreciated and without them days like this would not be possible. Well done to all at Hailsham Bowls Club.
