Urben Friendship Trophy (mixed pairs) 23/08/2025

What an amazing turn out we had for this event in honour of dearly departed members May & George Urben, who during their time at the club invested a great deal of time and effort shaping the club we have today.

Today is all about friendship, to give members who are not a couple a chance to pair up with a fellow member for the day to win this worthy trophy, kindly donated by the Urben family.

Proceedings got under way at 10.00am with all 18 teams divided into 3 groups, with 3 rounds of 5 ends played before lunch, served up by our social team, and then a further 2 rounds in the afternoon, to determine the winners of each group and the best overall runner up.

After some fantastic semi-finals it was good to see so many members stay on to watch and support the final 2 pairs, who went on to play a further 6 ends, with some brilliant bowls to decide who was the overall winner of the trophy.

Congratulations to the winners P Brown & M Cooke and massive thanks to everyone who pitched in to make this event run smoothly and be a memorable day full of fun and friendship.
